My Life in the Water

beep, beep, beep. The 5 o'clock alarm goes off. As I roll out of bed every morning, I ask myself "why am I doing this?" I slowly and clumsily walk down stairs, start the coffee, make my bagel, and turn on my morning the television show (the simpsons). As I eat my breakfast in, I again think to myself "why on Earth am I doing this?"
Finally, I am dressed and walking out to my truck and I start the car and immediatly blast my music just for that extra jolt of energy. 51/2 minutes down the road I make it to Golden West College. Because it is only 5:45 in the morning I get my selection of the "good" parking spots. Now, I gather my belongings and make my way to my second home; the pool deck. This is going to be my life for the rest of the day, whether it's through swimming swim sets or through passing and shooting a ball around only my coach will know how the day will be. It is not until 8 o'clock that I am out of the pool running to my class.
When I finally get to class, usually a few minutes behind, my hair is still dripping and my skin has a lovely odor of cholorine. All my fellow classmates can tell that I live in the pool, just by my appearance alone. As the class goes on, usually my head will bob out of exhaustion from that morning's practice. Just when I finally get dried off, 11:30 rolls around and this means it is time for round 2 in the pool. Again, the water surrounds me for another 3 hours and finally at 2:30 I am released.
Most girls on my team are free to go home after that end of the 2:30 practice, not me. I am one of the those girls who just loves the pool so much I need to be around it more. So then, at the 4 o'clock hour I have the great privalege of coaching a 10 and under water polo team. Luckily for me, when I coach I can coach from the pool deck, but there are those days where I have to get in and demonstrate. . . .
